Motorcycle rider who allegedly shot, killed another rider was then hit and killed by a car in Phoenix

A driver who saw a motorcycle rider shooting another motorcycle rider after a crash ran over and killed the shooter, according to officials with the Phoenix Police Department. Both the person who was shot and the person who was run over died, police said. 

The Phoenix Police Department said the incident began Friday night when motorcycle riders crashed into each other near 7th Avenue and I-17 just before 11 p.m. After the crash, the two men got into a fight.

Shots were fired during the fight, and one of the men was hit by gunfire, police said.

“The driver of a car nearby saw the man shooting and hit him with his car, causing life-threatening injuries,” police said in a statement.

The shooting victim and the man hit by the vehicle were taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said. Both of the men died at the hospital.

The vehicle and driver were found nearby and the driver was detained but later released pending further investigation.
