Missing Tempe man found dead in Mesa, police say

PHOENIX — A man reported missing in Tempe was found dead Friday, according to officials with the city’s police department. 

Michael Bayne’s body was found in Mesa near Center Street and McKellips Road, police said. The death investigation has been turned over to the Mesa Police Department. 

Bayne, 32, was last spotted on a neighbor’s security camera walking through his complex near Scottsdale Road and Mesquite Circle on the morning of Feb. 16.

“Our thoughts are with Michael’s family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time,” Tempe police said in a statement. “We understand how deeply this ongoing search has affected the community, and we ask for continued patience and compassion as the investigation moves forward.”
