Mesa investigates Assistant Police Chief Ed Wessing for alleged misconduct involving policy violations.

MESA, Ariz. — Mesa’s assistant police chief is under investigation after alleged misconduct, according to officials.

The City of Mesa confirmed to 12News that Assistant Chief Ed Wessing is being investigated for failure to obey City of Mesa management policies and/or personnel rules or official city communications. 

“The City of Mesa and the Mesa Police Department take all allegations of misconduct seriously and a thorough investigation is being conducted,” the city said in a statement.

The city said Wessing had been reassigned to home duties.

Other details about the investigation have not been released.
