The sheriff’s department said the man “had fired at least one round outside in a residential neighborhood.”

Deputies began to search for the man and found him walking nearby.

The man began to walk toward deputies and was given multiple commands to stop, the sheriff’s department said.

“The subject did not comply and produced a firearm,” the sheriff’s department said. “The deputy then fired his department-issued firearm, striking him.”
