Man sentenced to prison for assaulting 67-year-old woman in Phoenix

The suspect asked to use the woman’s phone before forcing his way into her Phoenix residence.

PHOENIX — A man was recently sentenced to prison for breaking into a 67-year-old woman’s Phoenix home last year and sexually assaulting her.

Jeremy Naltazan, 35, was sentenced this week in Maricopa County Superior Court to 13 years in prison after the defendant pleaded guilty to sexual assault and attempted sexual assault, according to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office.

On Dec. 16, 2024, a woman living near 32nd Street and Thomas Road reported hearing someone knock on her door at about 10 p.m. A man asked to use her phone. She declined the request and called the police.

The man then forced his way into the home and grabbed the woman. Prosecutors said the attacker held her down and sexually assaulted her.

After Phoenix police officers arrived at the residence, the attacker ran and jumped over the backyard fence. Police later apprehended him and he was identified as Naltazan.

“It takes extraordinary courage for a victim to resist, call for help, and ultimately assist police in identifying her attacker,” County Attorney Rachel Mitchell said in a statement. “Because of her strength, and the quick response of law enforcement, this dangerous predator has been stopped, and our community is safer.”

After completing his prison term, the defendant will be placed on supervised probation for life.
