Man and woman detained after shooting investigation in Mesa

MESA, Ariz. — Officers in Mesa responded to reports of shots fired at an apartment complex.

Officers were called to the area of Southern Avenue and Greenfield Road shortly after 5 p.m. Thursday after someone reported seeing a man fire a handgun from a car window. Mesa police located the vehicle at a local apartment complex and a man and woman were seen running from the car and into a unit.

Police officers issued commands for them to exit the residence and they allegedly did not comply. A SWAT team was deployed after officers obtained a warrant and the man and woman exited the residence, police said.

They were both taken into custody and a handgun was located in the apartment, police said.

The two detained individuals were identified as 47-year-old Ryan McNair and 31-year-old Kimberly Bautista.
