Killer gets life in prison for murdering young mother in Phoenix

PHOENIX — The man who pleaded guilty to murdering a 21-year-old mother in Phoenix several years ago has been recently sentenced to life in prison. 

Antwaun Ware, 27, was sentenced in Maricopa County Superior Court after pleading guilty to the first-degree murder of Jasmine Dunbar in 2018, according to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office.

Dunbar was last seen alive when she left with Ware to conduct a paternity test. Dunbar’s baby was later found abandoned in a car seat left on the side of the road.

Dunbar’s burned remains were located near 107th Avenue and Camelback Road.

In addition to murder, Ware pleaded guilty to a charge of endangerment.

“This defendant’s callous actions have no place in our community. Thanks to the hard work of my prosecutors, he will live the rest of his life behind bars,” Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell said in a statement.
