Crash near 17th Avenue and Buckeye Road leaves woman dead, police say



The crash happened around 7:45 p.m. Monday. Police believe that impairment played a part in the crash.

PHOENIX — An investigation is underway after a woman was struck and killed by a car while crossing the street in Phoenix, police said.

The crash happened around 7:45 p.m. on Monday near 17th Avenue and Buckeye Road.

According to early reports, 46-year-old Christina Hertzbach was crossing mid-block when she was struck. First responders took her to the hospital where she later died.

Police believe that the driver was impaired but charges are pending further investigation.

Investigators are working to learn more about what led up to the crash.
