The Tempe Police Department said the incident happened at around 3 a.m. at the Up in Smoke shop near  Mill Avenue and Baseline Road.

“I got an alarm message that somebody was trying to get into the store, and I checked the camera and I see a car sitting right in the middle of our store,” owner Fadi Sayed said.

Police said multiple items were stolen from the shop. The two suspects then left the scene.

The surveillance video showed the masked driver get out of the car with a container that appeared to be a cooler. He then proceeded to throw items inside. The driver leaves the store after what sounded like a car horn went off. Moments later, he returned and filled the container for a second time.

The owner is still assessing the total scope of the damage and the cost of stolen property, but he said in-demand vape pens were among the items taken.

“I saw it and I just freaked out, you know. I called the cops right away,” Sayed said.

The store remained open as of Sunday night as the owners and employees clean up and repair the damage.

“We’re going to rebuild, but things will be okay. We’re fighters, you know. We’ll keep it going.” Sayed said.

No arrests have been made.

This is a developing story; additional details will be added as they become available.
