Phoenix police investigated the crash involving two vehicles on Sep. 9, 2023, that happened near Tatum and Shea boulevards in north Phoenix.
When officers arrived at the scene in 2023, both vehicles were at the scene. They found a passenger of a rideshare vehicle suffering from critical injuries. The man, later identified as 28-year-old Alec Carbine, was taken to the hospital and later died, police said. The driver of the rideshare had minor injuries.
The second vehicle involved in the crash was driven by a woman, identified as 21-year-old Bella Bonanno, and had three passengers. One of the passengers, an adult, sustained serious non-life-threatening injuries, and the other two passengers had minor injuries.
Detectives at the time of the crash said preliminary information suggested Bonanno failed to stop at the red light and hit the vehicle driven by the rideshare driver.
Bonanno was evaluated for impairment, but no signs were reported, police said.
On Sep. 29, 2025, Bonanno was arrested and is facing charges related to the 2023 crash, police said. The crash investigation “concluded that speed played a factor” in the incident.
No other information was released.
