Arizona officials find escaped inmate

PIMA COUNTY, Ariz. — Law enforcement officials say an escaped prisoner in Pima County has been located, according to authorities.

Elijah Palmer was detained shortly after 1:20 p.m. near S. Kolb just south of I-10, according to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.

A manhunt was initiated after Palmer was “unaccounted for” at the Arizona State Prison Complex- Tucson on Saturday at around 4 a.m.

Palmer is serving a sentence for unlawful use of means of transportation and had been in prison since August 2024.

DPS, U.S. Marshals, USBP & AZ Rangers worked with the sheriff’s department to find Palmer.
