3 arrested in connection with shooting death of 17-year-old in Phoenix

PHOENIX — Three teenagers were arrested for their alleged involvement in the October 2025 murder of 17-year-old Merki Terril Anthony in Phoenix, according to the city’s police department.

At around 9:20 p.m. on Oct. 14, 2025, officers responded to a shots-fired call near 12th Street and Bell Road.

Upon arrival, they found Anthony suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

The Phoenix Fire Department arrived on the scene and took Anthony to a nearby hospital, where he later died.

After a lengthy investigation, detectives determined that an attempted robbery resulted in gunfire, and Anthony was shot and killed, police said.

On Friday, 18-year-old Demarius Shaw and David Brunt, along with 19-year-old Raul Clavel, were arrested in connection with the case. Police said they all face charges of first-degree murder.
