2-year-old’s death investigated as homicide in Yuma

YUMA, Ariz. — Yuma police are investigating the death of a 2-year-old child as a homicide.

Details about the child’s death are limited at this time.

Police said the investigation began on May 30, when officers were called out to the 8500 block of E. 25th Street just before 1:50 p.m.

“Upon arrival, officers located what appeared to be human remains, possibly of a 2-year-old male,” police said.

Police said the child’s mother, 20-year-old Angelina Vasquez, and her boyfriend, 23-year-old Miguel Garcia, have been arrested in connection to the homicide. They are both facing charges of murder in the first degree-premeditated and abandon/conceal dead body parts.

The child’s name has not been released.

Police said the investigation remains active.
