2 women found dead in Phoenix apartment

PHOENIX — Officers have opened a death investigation after two women were found dead with gunshot wounds at a central Phoenix apartment, according to authorities.

The Phoenix Police Department said the women were discovered Thursday morning after a welfare check at an apartment complex near 24th Street and McDowell Road.

Police said a welfare check was requested after the women hadn’t been seen or heard from in several days.

Police identified the women as Tiwayla Spencer, 38, and Marquisha Williams, 36.

Other details about the incident were not released by police.
