16-year-old in custody after man allegedly shot and killed in Avondale home



The apparent shooting occurred at a home near Litchfield and Lower Buckeye roads around 11 p.m. on Thursday.

AVONDALE, Ariz. — A 16-year-old is in custody after an 18-year-old man was allegedly shot and killed in an Avondale home on Thursday night, according to the city’s police department.

Police said the apparent shooting occurred at a home near Litchfield and Lower Buckeye roads.

Upon arrival, they found an 18-year-old man with a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital where he later died, police said.

A 16-year-old suspect, who was acquainted with the man, was taken into custody.

Next of kin has been notified.

There is no known threat to the public.
