1 dead, 2 detained after shooting in south Phoenix

PHOENIX — A man is dead after he was shot in Phoenix on Sunday night, according to officials with the city’s police department. 

Officers responded to reports of a shooting near Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and 27th Avenue and found a man who had been shot at least once. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene, officials said. 

Two people were detained at the scene, officials said. The area near the shooting is expected to be closed while detectives investigate the shooting.
