Things to do in Phoenix: Feb. 28 – March 2 | Things To Do



A new month is here, and the weekend is calling. Before you lock in your plans, check out the local events below. 

Over the weekend of February 28 to March 2, PV – the newly opened, reimagined version of the retail hub formerly known as Paradise Valley Mall – will host a local version of Sedona’s popular Oak Creek Arts & Crafts Shows. Featuring nearly 50 juried artists showcasing works from a variety of artistic mediums, music and more, the show will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day at The Park at PV (conveniently located near the new Blanco Reserva and just north of the newly opened Sephora and Whole Foods), at 4568 E. Purse-Impressions, a nonprofit organization, will host its 6th “Pop-Up” Purse & Jewelry Sale Fundraiser event on Friday, Feb. 28 and Saturday, March 1 at the Holland Center, located at 34250 N. 60th Street in North Scottsdale. The event will feature over 500 new and gently used purses including designer brands, jewelry and scarves for sale along with raffle baskets, silent auction and a purse donation drive to benefit the nonprofit. The Cave Creek Museum, in partnership with the Kiwanis Club of Carefree, will host a free Archaeology Expo for children on Saturday, March 1, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will give local kids a chance to explore how early inhabitants of the desert lived without modern conveniences. Activities will include a desert dig where participants may uncover items such as bones, pottery, or shark teeth. Children will also learn about petroglyphs and have the opportunity to create their own to take home. Learn more here. Pre-registration is required. 

Mark your calendar for the Daisy Mountain Rock and Mineral Show taking place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 1 and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 2 at Anthem School, 41020 N. Freedom Way in Anthem. The popular family-friendly event features more than 45 vendors and more than 3,000 specimens ranging from rocks, slabs, and crystals to fossils, jewelry, beads and geodes. The Fountain Hills Women’s Club is inviting the community to don their best western attire for its annual “Boots & Bangles” fundraiser on March 1 at the We-Ko-Pa Casino Resort. The event, aimed at raising scholarship funds for women in the Fountain Hills area, will feature live music from KC & The Moonshine Band, performances by Arizona’s Singing Cowboy Gary Sprague, and line dancing. Attendees can also enjoy a plated luncheon, silent and live auctions, a themed photo station, and a 50/50 cash raffle. See all of the details here.
