Desert Foothills Land Trust Movie Night: Desert Dreams

5:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 11

Desert Foothills Land Trust presents “Desert Dreams,” a stunning documentary showcasing the beauty and biodiversity of the Sonoran Desert. This internationally award-winning film will transport you through five seasons of one of the world’s most awe-inspiring landscapes. 

Educational, entertaining and fun for all ages, you won’t want to miss this special experience. There will also be a question and answer session with producer, author and photographer Thomas Wiewandt. Space is limited; reservations are available at dflt.org/desert-dreams.

Community Conversations: Connecting with Carefree

9-11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 12 

Join the town of Carefree to bring the community closer together through open and meaningful dialogues between the town’s leadership and valued residents. This monthly event is a unique opportunity for you to connect directly with the mayor and town council members in the Visitor’s Center at the Sanderson Lincoln Pavilion. Bring you questions or comments to start the conversations that will help bring our community closer.

Carefree Desert Garden Seminar Series: Creative Container Gardening

9:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 13

Join in the first session of the Carefree Desert Gardens Seminar Series of the year at the Sanderson Lincoln Pavilion to learn about creative container gardening featuring Noelle Johnson. Johnson, also known as “AZ Plant Lady,” will share her favorite tips for creating beautiful container plantings with the newest varieties of annual flowers to growing shrubs, succulents and vegetables. Carefree Art Night

4-7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18

Stroll the quaint town of Carefree to experience the sights of the Desert Gardens and visit local art galleries for special artist engagements and live entertainment. Local musicians provide the perfect ambiance for an evening under the stars.  

31st Annual Winter Carefree Fine Art & Wine Festival

10 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19 – Sunday, Jan. 21

This juried fine art festival features 155 world class artists from across the globe, live music, wine tasting, microbrews and spirit sampling ($15), delectable edibles and sweet treats, all surrounded by unique shops, restaurants and cafes in the quaint town of Carefree. Admission is $5 and parking is free. 

Grind and Gears Bike-A-Thon

8 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 27

Be part of the movement at the Grind and Gears 1st Annual Bike-A-Thon. Join the 10-mile road or 30-mile mountain bike ride for $125. All proceeds will support the Mirror Dog Foundation’s fight against child abuse and trafficking. The foundation brings together nonprofits, philanthropists and artists to share compelling stories of triumph and healing. Learn more at mirrordogfoundation.com.
