Take away some of the post-Thanksgiving feast guilt with the 33rd annual Turkey Trot 5K Run and Fitness Walk in Fountain Hills, taking place at 7:15 a.m. the morning of Thanksgiving, Nov. 23.
The course starts at the Avenue of the Fountains, just east of Verde River Drive, and races around the famous fountain at Fountain Park.
Runners are encouraged to dress up in their favorite Thanksgiving-themed costume to enter the costume contest.
The registration fee for the 5K is $35 for adults and $20 for children under 13. There’s also the option to participate in the one mile fitness walk for $20. Registration fees go up by $5 after Nov. 10.
Pre-registration is required, and there will be no on-site registration at the event.
An awards ceremony will take place at 8:15 a.m. Also, be sure to stay until 9:30 a.m. for the Thanksgiving Parade that goes along Saguaro Blvd and the Avenue of the Fountains.
Participants can pick up their race packet, T-shirt and bib Nov. 20-22 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Community Center, located at 13001 N. La Montana Drive in Fountain Hills. These items must be picked up before the race, and a bib must be worn during the race in order to be timed.
