2025 Juneteenth events in Phoenix, Arizona




Freedom Day, more commonly known as Juneteenth, was first celebrated on June 19, 1865, in Galveston, Texas, by 250,000 African-Americans upon hearing news from Union troops about the Emancipation Proclamation, the act that granted Black people freedom from enslavement.
