Authorities in Oregon said a missing hiker was found dead after days of searching for her and her two dogs in the Mt. Hood National Forest.

They also added that Michel Fournier, 71, has been arrested for second-degree murder. Local news outlets said Michel was Susan’s estranged husband.

The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office said they found the body of 61-year-old Susan Lane-Fournier near East Highway 26 and East Miller Road in an unincorporated area.

Her death was listed as a homicide.

Lane-Fournier was reported missing after failing to show up to work last week. Deputies said they went to her home but didn’t find her.

The next day, a person reported seeing her white 1992 Ford F-250 parked along E. Salmon River Road near the Green Canyon Way Trail south of Welches. The discovery is what prompted the search for her in the woods.

Her two dogs have not been found.
