Lori Vallow Daybell files motion to dismiss Arizona case

PHOENIX – Lori Vallow Daybell, the so-called “Doomsday Mom,” has filed a motion to dismiss her Arizona case, citing a lack of a speedy trial.

Vallow Daybell is charged with conspiracy to commit murder in the death of her former husband, Charles Vallow, and attempted murder of her ex-nephew-in-law, Brandon Boudreaux.

The shootings of Charles and Brandon happened within months of each other in 2019, and in Charles’ shooting, investigators identified the suspect as Vallow’s late brother, Alex Cox.

According to police, the shootings of Charles and Brandon were motivated by money and a bizarre spiritual system. 

Vallow Daybell is representing herself in Arizona after she was deemed competent to stand trial after questions were raised by her former attorneys.

Charles Vallow’s murder trial is scheduled to begin on March 31. A trial has not been set in the Brandon Boudreaux case.

FOX 10 Investigator Justin Lum reports Vallow Daybell’s motion to dismiss her case alleges a lack of a speedy trial.

“LVD says speedy trial should happen within 150 days of arraignment which was 12/7/23,” Lum wrote on X.

Vallow Daybell claims the judge did not want to set a trial date for the Brandon Boudreaux case, only scheduling a case for Charles Vallow’s murder.

“The State of Arizona has had plenty of time to figure this out!” Vallow Daybell wrote in her motion.

The backstory:

Vallow Daybell was previously found guilty in Idaho for the murders of two of her children, Joshua “JJ” Vallow and Tylee Ryan. She was also found guilty of her role in the death of Tammy Daybell. Tammy was the first wife of Chad Daybell, who is Vallow’s current husband.

Vallow was sentenced to life in prison in Idaho for the deaths.
