Hit-and-run crash leaves 9-year-old pedestrian hospitalized in Tempe

A nine-year-old was taken to a hospital after a hit-and-run crash in Tempe on Christmas Eve.

The child is said to have serious injuries.

The crash happened in Tempe near the intersection of Baseline Road and 48th Street.

When Tempe Police arrived, the suspected vehicle had already spread away from the crime scene.

There is a road closure in effect while detectives conduct an investigation.

Police ask that drivers use Southern Avenue or Broadway Road as an alternative until the area can be reopened.
