One dead in crash near Higley and Brown roads in Mesa

MESA, AZ — One person is dead after a crash near Higley and Brown roads in Mesa on Thursday morning.

Video from the scene showed a semi-truck and a work van, both with extensive damage.

Mesa police say two people were taken to hospitals, where one has since died.

The surviving victim, the semi-truck driver, is said to be in stable condition.

The crash has shut down both directions of Higley Road, and there is no estimated time of reopening.

The investigation is ongoing.
