A 26-year-old man was killed Monday when he lost control of a motorcycle and slid into a guardrail on Catalina Highway, authorities say.
The crash happened about 9:40 a.m. near Windy Point when Alexy Alcantar lost control of a Kawasaki motorcycle as he approached curve while riding south along the highway, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release.
A companion and several passersby, including some with medical experience, stopped to help.
Alcantar died at the hospital shortly after noon.
Alcantar was wearing full protective riding gear at the time of the crash and preliminary findings indicate that speed was not a factor, the release said.
The investigation continues.
