Valley to stay below 90° as cooling system sweeps through Arizona this weekend

Cooler weather arrives in Arizona this weekend, bringing sub-90-degree temperatures to the Valley.

PHOENIX — The Valley will enjoy a stretch of sub-90-degree temperatures this weekend as a weather system tracking north of Arizona ushers in cooler air, breezy conditions and partly cloudy skies through Sunday.

FULL FORECAST: Cooler Temperatures sweep into Arizona this weekend

Afternoon highs in the Valley are expected to reach only the mid-80s by Sunday, a notable departure from the triple-digit warmth the region typically sees heading into late spring. The system will not bring rain to the metro area over the weekend, keeping conditions dry for outdoor activities.

For Valley residents, a 20% chance of a late-afternoon shower on Monday is the only precipitation in the near-term forecast. Arizona is expected to remain dry for the remainder of next week as a gradual warming trend builds, pushing Phoenix temperatures back toward, but not quite reaching, the 90-degree threshold.

Meteorologist Chris Dunn says no readings at or above 90° are currently in the forecast for the Valley over the next seven days.

Northern Arizona will experience a more active weekend. A few early showers are possible across the High Country on Saturday, with temperatures dropping into the 50s and 60s, well below seasonal norms. Dunn says a second, more potent system will swing through the state on Monday, bringing an elevated chance of supporting some snow above 8,000 feet.
