Mesa Police arrested a man they say had photos on his phone that appeared to be taken through the windows of people’s homes without their knowledge.
MESA, Ariz. — Mesa police are looking for additional victims in a voyeurism investigation after they say a man was found with images that appeared to be taken through the windows of people’s homes without their knowledge, including images of juveniles.
Officers were called to the area of South Massey around 10:20 p.m. on February 10, for reports of a suspicious person recording a juvenile family member in a bathroom from outside the home while she was preparing to shower, according to the Mesa Police Department.
The man, later identified as Erik Cantos, 42, was also seen in the fenced backyard of the person’s home.
Detectives served a search warrant on Cantos’ cell phone on February 16 and found multiple images of three people related to the initial caller.
The pictures were taken from outside the home and included images of people partially clothed.
Contos was arrested and booked on charges including burglary, eight counts of surreptitious photographing, and nine counts of voyeurism. He was later released on a $75,000 cash bond.
As part of the investigation, detectives have been working to identify the people in the photos.
One image depicted two girls inside the bathroom and was taken from outside.
One of the girls was identified as a previously known victim and the other was later identified.
Two additional images show other victims who have not been identified.
The Mesa Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the two victims seen in photographs
