Pima County sheriff believes Guthrie suspect can strike again | The Disappearance of Nancy Guthrie

TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) – The search for Nancy Guthrie continues nearly six weeks after her disappearance. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department is providing updates and expressing concerns that the suspect may strike again.

Sheriff Chris Nanos shared insights into the ongoing investigation. He indicated that while they believe Guthrie was targeted, they cannot be entirely certain.

News 4 Tucson’s Monica Garcia spoke one-on-one with Sheriff Nanos, who said people should remain aware of their surroundings.

“For those in the community worried about their safety because a suspect has not been arrested, what is your message to them? My message is to everybody putting this case aside, I understand we live in a beautiful area, nice clean air, they like to keep the windows open at night. I would tell you I am a cop, don’t do that. Lock your windows, lock your doors. I have learned from this. I have a security system too, make sure you have that recording, subscription, I don’t know, take a look at your security system,” Nanos said.

Meanwhile, investigators are still seeking tips and leads. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department has received hundreds of new tips in the Nancy Guthrie case since March 1.

The Sheriff’s Department reports that thousands of tips have come in since Guthrie disappeared. The FBI reported receiving more than 25,000 tips between February 1 and March 2. Sheriff Nanos previously said the department and FBI had over 30,000 calls just two weeks after Guthrie was reported missing.
