Police records indicate that LaBeouf repeatedly used homophobic slurs toward the victims and bystanders.
Actor Shia LaBeouf was arrested early Tuesday morning after a series of violent altercations at the R Bar in the Marigny.
The 39-year-old Transformers star faces two counts of simple battery following a night of escalating aggression during New Orleans’ Mardi Gras celebrations.
Escalation at R Bar
According to an arrest report obtained by WWL Louisiana, Eighth District officers were dispatched to R Bar around 12:45 a.m.
Staff at the R Bar reported that LaBeouf had become increasingly “irate and aggressive” throughout the evening.
Witnesses stated that the bar’s manager attempted to eject LaBeouf multiple times. During one attempt, LaBeouf allegedly swung a closed fist at the manager.

A bystander intervened to assist in escorting the actor out, at which point LaBeouf reportedly struck that individual multiple times.
Bystanders intervene
The situation intensified when LaBeouf, after briefly leaving the premises, returned with increased hostility. Patrons at the bar were forced to physically restrain the actor, holding him down until police arrived, the report said.
Once released by the group in hopes he would leave peacefully, LaBeouf reportedly attacked the first victim again, landing several punches to the upper body. He then allegedly turned his attention to a second man standing near the door, striking him in the face with enough force to possibly dislocate his nose.
“He began to brace up to bystanders trying to initiate a physical altercation,” the police report stated, noting that the second victim was forced to reset his own nose before seeking hospital treatment.
Homophobic slurs and arrest
The investigation revealed a pattern of verbal abuse accompanying the physical attacks. Police records indicate that LaBeouf repeatedly used homophobic slurs toward the victims and bystanders.
During his arrest, LaBeouf reportedly shouted, “These f*****s put me in jail. I’m a Catholic.”

Video footage collected by police confirmed LaBeouf had struck at least two people with closed fists.
Current status
LaBeouf was initially transported to Touro Hospital for medical evaluation. Upon his release, he was booked into Central Lockup. He was later released on his own recognizance and was reportedly seen hours later dancing on Bourbon Street with his release papers in his mouth.
This incident marks the latest in a long history of public disturbances and legal troubles for the actor, who has previously faced charges for public drunkenness and assault in other cities.
LaBeouf’s next hearing is scheduled for March 19.
WWL Louisiana’s Lily Cummings and our reporting partner, Ramon Vargas at the Guardian, attempted to reach LaBeouf Thursday for comment at his Uptown home. While he did not answer the door for Cummings, LaBeouf told Vargas, to “get up out of here” and called him an expletive.
