TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) – A crash occurred late Friday night on February 6, 2026, near the intersection of West Valencia Road and South Gila Avenue, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department said.
According to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) struck a pedestrian, identified as 34-year-old Marcos Duane Anaya, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
PCSD Traffic detectives reported that the SUV driver was traveling westbound on Valencia Road when they saw Anaya standing directly in front of the vehicle. Anaya was wearing dark clothing and was not in a crosswalk. The driver attempted to brake but was unable to avoid the collision, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department said.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department said the investigation shows that neither speed nor impairment were factors for the driver, who remained at the scene after the crash.
Authorities are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or has information to contact 9-1-1 or 88-CRIME, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department said.
