Texas teen girl forced into pickup at knifepoint, father found them by tracking her phone

A Texas father used quick thinking and technology to track down his missing teenage daughter.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas — A 15-year-old girl who didn’t return home after school was found miles away in a pickup truck after her father tracked her phone, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. A Porter man now faces serious charges.

Giovanni Rosales Espinoza, 23, of Porter, Texas, was arrested on charges of aggravated kidnapping and indecency with a child. He was taken into custody without incident and is being held at the Montgomery County Jail with no bond.

Deputies responded to a neighborhood in Porter around 4:50 p.m. on Thursday after receiving reports of a kidnapping involving a 15-year-old girl. When deputies arrived, they learned the victim had been abducted while taking her dog on a walk.

Using parental controls to locate the victim’s phone, her father traveled to a secluded, partially wooded area in Harris County, nearly 2 miles away. The father was able to find the victim and her dog inside a maroon-colored pickup truck with a partially nude 23-year-old male, identified as Espinoza, the sheriff’s office said. The father helped his daughter escape from the truck.

According to the sheriff’s office, investigators determined that Espinoza threatened the victim with a knife and abducted her from the street. Witnesses at the scene provided a detailed description of the suspect’s vehicle. Espinoza was taken into custody.

Detectives with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit responded to the scene and continued their investigation. Espinoza was charged with aggravated kidnapping and indecency with a child. He remains in the Montgomery County Jail at this time with no bond.

“Christmas is a day meant for joy, but this man chose to shatter that joy by targeting a child,” Sheriff Wesley Doolittle said in a social media post. “I am incredibly proud of our deputies and detectives who worked tirelessly to ensure this dangerous predator was swiftly apprehended and is now off our streets. Rest assured that your Sheriff’s Office remains vigilant every hour of every day to keep your families safe.”

KHOU 11’s Amanda Henderson spoke to the family Friday night and they told her off camera that they’re thankful their daughter is safe, at home and with them recovering. They’d also like to clarify none of them knew the suspect.

The investigation remains active and ongoing, and no further information can be released at this time. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call 936-760-5876 and reference case number 25A410316, or call Multi-County Crime Stoppers at 800-392-7867.
