YUMA, Ariz. (KVOA) – Authorities are urgently searching for 17-year-old Maria Acedo, who went missing after leaving Cibola High School on December 2. Acedo, who is a ward of the Gila River Indian Tribe, has not made contact since her disappearance.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety has issued a Turquoise Alert for Yuma County. Acedo is described as an Indigenous female, 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighing 256 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. She was last seen wearing a black sweater, white pajama pants, and carrying a black backpack.
There are indications that Acedo may be in Los Angeles, California, New York, or Texas. Detective Burruel of the Yuma Police Department is leading the efforts to locate her. If anyone has information on her whereabouts, they are urged to contact the Yuma Police Department at 928-783-4421 or call 911.
