TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) – New details have emerged regarding the attack at the Laos Transit Center that left a victim hospitalized. A suspect has been arrested and faces charges following the incident.
Suspect Godwin Bloomer-Igbokwe, 27, has been charged with attempted second-degree murder and aggravated assault. His bond has been set at $250,000.
On Nov. 30, officers responded to the Laos Transit Center after a report of an aggravated assault around 11:30 a.m.
According to an interim complaint, Bloomer-Igbokwe was in the north end bathroom, and was reportedly banging and making noise.
The victim arrived to the Laos Transit Center on a bus and ran to the restroom. As he opened the bathroom door, Bloomer-Igbokwe reportedly hit the victim in his head with a metal angle iron twice. The victim fell to the ground and was unconscious.
The 27-year-old then left the bathroom and traveled southbound on Nogales Highway as another victim tried to follow Bloomer-Igbokwe. The suspect then turned to the second victim and allegedly threatened them with a knife, according to an interim complaint.
The injured victim regained consciousness and was found four to five blocks away from where the incident took place. He reportedly lost a large amount of blood and was transported to a local trauma center.
According to an interim complaint, a piece of what was believed to be part of the victim’s skull was found on the path he took from the scene. The victim reportedly had multiple skull fractures and brain bleeds.
The Tucson Police Department said the attack is believed to be unprovoked, and the suspect and victim had no prior contact before the incident.
