How car recalls get reported
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) officially start car recalls after receiving complaints from consumers.
Silvestri Sweets has recalled multiple holiday barks, according to a Wednesday announcement from the Food and Drug Administration.
Grocery store retailer Aldi also issued a notice of the recalled products.

The Cookie Butter Holiday Bark is packed in 5 oz. pouch bags with the lot #29225 and best by date on 05/2026, which are printed on the back of each bag. Meanwhile, the Pecan, Cranberry & Cinnamon Holiday Bark is also packed in 5 oz. pouch bags with the lot # 29225 and best by date on 08/2026.
What they’re saying:
According to the company, ‘people who have allergies to pecans or wheat products, “run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.”
No illnesses have been reported in connection with this problem.
Holiday barks recalled, sold at Aldi stores

The recalled items were distributed nationwide at Aldi grocery stores.
According to the notice, issued by Aldi, the holiday barks were available in select stores in dozens of states including: Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, District of Columbia, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia.

Upon discovery, Aldi said it immediately removed the impacted products from store shelves.

The recall notice said consumers should discard the product immediately or return it to their local store for a full refund.
The backstory:
The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the Pecan, Cranberry & Cinnamon Holiday Bark had been packaged in Cookie Butter Holiday Bark packages resulting in undeclared pecan, and that the Cookie Butter Holiday Bark had been packaged in Pecan, Cranberry & Cinnamon Holiday Bark packages resulting in undeclared wheat.

Subsequent investigation indicated the problem may have been caused by a temporary breakdown in the company’s production and packaging process.
