A squirrel monkey named Hudson now lives at Tucson’s zoo

Reid Park Zoo has added to its troop of tiny monkeys.

A 2-year-old squirrel monkey named Hudson has joined the zoo.

Hudson came to Tucson from the Sedgwick County Zoo.

“Hudson has been introduced to the rest of the squirrel monkey troop and is doing well,” Adam Ramsey, the zoo’s director of animal care, said Friday in a news release. “He has been sticking close to one monkey in particular, Toto, as he gets used to his new home.”

“Even though Hudson is our smallest squirrel monkey, he is very confident, laid back, and playful.” The zoo says Hudson can be identified by his size and “thick arms.”

The troop can be seen at the zoo’s South America loop at the Temple of Tiny Monkeys.

Squirrel monkeys are among the world’s smallest primates and are native to the tropical forests of Central and South America.
