Domestic incident leads to barricade situation at Mesa home; woman injured


MESA, AZ — Mesa police say a domestic violence incident led to a barricade situation at a home near Greenfield Road and University Drive on Wednesday morning.

Officers were first called to the scene for reports of a domestic violence incident, where they located a woman with multiple injuries. She was taken to a hospital for treatment.

A large police presence remained at the scene for several hours while officials worked to contact a man who was still inside the home.

ABC15 crews saw multiple officers with weapons and what appeared to be tear gas or smoke used at the home.

Around 11 a.m., ABC15’s cameras saw a man exiting the home and being detained. He was taken away from the scene in an ambulance.

Officials have not yet confirmed whether any arrests were made or if they are looking for anyone else involved in the incident.
