AVONDALE, Ariz. — NASCAR fans from across the country will descend on Arizona this weekend. Unfortunately, it may be some time before they return.
The last NASCAR Cup Series Championship race at Phoenix Raceway is on Sunday, Nov. 2.
12News breaks down the weekend festivities leading up to the race and if there are any traffic implications.
Traffic
Fans heading to Phoenix Raceway for the event should plan for heavy traffic and allow for extra time when traveling to and from the event.
ADOT doesn’t currently have any weekend closures or construction delays near the raceway. The I-10 near Goodyear should see plenty of traffic over the coming days.
Phoenix Raceway is located at 7602 Jimmie Johnson Dr., Avondale, Arizona, 85323.
Weather
According to 12News meteorologists, the weather should be perfect for the races. Expect highs near 90 degrees with clear skies. Don’t forget the sunscreen.
Friday, Oct. 31
On Friday, the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Championship starts at 4:30 p.m. For information on ticket bundles like “Reserved Seating”, “Grandstand + Infield Bundle”, “Desert Diamond Casino Infield Experience”, or camping information, click here.
Saturday, Nov. 1
Saturday will host the NASCAR Xfinity Series and ARCA Menards Series Desert Diamond Casino West Valley 100 races. The ARCA race will occur at 10:30 a.m., and the NASCAR Xfinity Series race will occur at 4:30 p.m. Click here for reserved seating for each or both races, ticket bundles, camping and more.
Parking lots open at 7:30 a.m. NASCAR Cup Series qualifying begins at 2 p.m.
Sunday, Nov. 2
