Heavy rain fueled by tropical surge continues on Sunday

Several road closures have been reported in the Valley.

PHOENIX — A Flood Watch remains in effect for the Valley through Sunday evening as another tropical surge, courtesy of former Tropical Storm Raymond, moves up from the south.

Several road closures are being reported (see the list below) due to flooding and standing water.

Our next round of rainy weather is expected to redevelop overnight Saturday night through Sunday morning.  We’re expecting this round of showers to last until around noon Sunday, producing another 1/2″-1″ of rain in parts of the Valley.

The Saturday morning surge produced record rainfall in Phoenix!  The .70″ measured on Saturday at Sky Harbor blew away the previous daily record of .31″ set nearly 100 years ago in 1928.
