Officers involved in shooting in west Phoenix

PHOENIX — A man died after being shot by a Phoenix police officer Saturday night, according to officials with the city’s police department. 

The shooting happened near 83rd Avenue and Indian School Road, police said. Officers responded to an apartment complex in the area for reports of a fight. 

When officers got to the scene, they saw a man and a woman engaged in a fight. The man was armed with a large knife, Phoenix police officials said. Officers gave the man commands, which is when an officer shot the man, police said. 

No officers were injured in the shooting, officials said.
