Sierra Vista man dies from injuries following motorcycle crash | Cochise County

SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. (KVOA) – A motorcyclist has died from his injuries following a crash on Tuesday afternoon, according to the Sierra Vista Police Department.

SVPD said the crash happened at Avenida Cochise and Highway 92 on Oct. 7 around 12:33 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers closed the intersection due to the severity of the crash. Initially, witnesses reported the vehicle hit the motorcycle, and the motorcyclist was on the ground.

Sierra Vista Fire & Medical Services requested a helicopter to airlift the motorcyclist to a Tucson hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

SVPD said the investigation revealed that the motorcyclist failed to yield to the vehicle traveling west on Avenida Cochise as he was making a left turn onto northbound Highway 92.

The driver of the vehicle was arrested on suspicion of DUI, following a DUI investigation conducted by officers, SVPD said. The charges are pending based on blood test results.
