One of the Valley’s funnest nights of the year is quickly approaching. The Wicked bar crawl returns for an all-out night of fun for area adults, with a shuttle bus whisking partygoers to and from eight Cave Creek bars for costume contests, live music and drink specials.
The event will be held Oct. 25, with everything starting at 5 p.m. at Mountain View Pub. The party moves to a different bar every hour. Parking is available at Stagecoach Village.
“Get your babysitters and book your Ubers,” said Brooke Dallas, who owns Big Earl’s Greasy Eats and organizes the event. “It’s a parent’s night out!”
Each bar has its own costume contest, and for as far back as she can remember, the costumes themselves are among the highlights of the night.
“It’s so much fun,” Dallas said. “People get really decked out.”
Last year, a gentleman who bore a striking resemblance to the singer named Jelly Roll was among the winners. Dallas also remembers a recent contestant whose body appeared to be in two pieces with half of her body on a table and another contestant dressed up like an undertaker who came complete with a flame-emitting Bible. There was also a trio of full-grown bearded men who showed up one year dressed up as The Powderpuff Girls. They remained in character throughout the night, Dallas remembered fondly.
There are cash prizes and/or gift cards available to the winners of each costume contest.
Those wishing to take part in the fun don’t have to start right at 5 p.m. as the shuttles run continuously.
“You can hop on any time you want,” Dallas said. “The cool thing is that the whole time, the party buses are on rotation.”
No registration is required. The shuttle is free and there are no cover charges at the bars.
“You don’t have to register or anything,” Dallas said. “You just show up and have your IDs ready. It’s the only free Halloween bar crawl in the Valley.”
