TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) – Meet the candidates, Adelita Grijalva and Daniel Butierez, who are set to square off in the Congressional District 7 Special Election on Tuesday.
Dem. Adelita Grijalva, a lifelong Tucson resident and public servant, said she has spent her career advocating for equity and opportunity. She served on the Tucson Unified School District Governing Board starting in 2002 and later became the first Latina Chair of the Pima County Board of Supervisors.
Rep. Daniel Butierez, a contractor with a history of fighting injustice, owns two small businesses that employ individuals from halfway houses. Having overcome personal challenges, including a wrongful conviction, Butierez said he is focused about protecting constitutional rights.
Both candidates are running for the seat left vacant by Congressman Raúl Grijalva’s passing.
Election Day is Sept. 23 and residents can vote at any of the 59 Vote Centers in Pima County.
