Dragon Bravo Fire remains at 86 percent containment | Arizona News

GRAND CANYON, Ariz. (KVOA) – Fire crews are facing challenging conditions on the Dragon Bravo Fire as they work on repairing access routes and trails impacted by recent fires, according to officials.

The wildfire remains at 86 percent containment after it started on July 4 due to lightning.

High winds have raised safety concerns, particularly on the Arizona National Scenic Trail, where crews paused their efforts.

Crews are focused on removing hazard trees from Forest Service Roads 610 and 611, as well as Cape Royal and Imperial Point roads. Firefighters are also continuing to prioritize repair and hazard tree mitigation of access routes and trails in order to improve safety and public access, officials said.

Fire suppression repairs west of the fire area are now complete. Crews are hauling hazard trees and repairing dozer lines used during fire suppression efforts.

The Initial Attack group remains on standby to address any new incidents within the fire area while also assisting with ongoing suppression repair work.

Weather conditions are expected to improve, with strong southwest winds gradually decreasing through the weekend. Dry conditions with seasonal temperatures are expected, with highs in the 60s and lows near 40 degrees.

Highway closures can be found on the Arizona Department of Transportation’s website.

The North Rim of the Grand Canyon will remain closed for the 2025 season. Information about current closures can be found on the National Park Service website. Kaibab National Forest closures and restrictions can be found online. Coconino County fire restrictions can be found on the Coconino website.
