A 65-year-old motorcyclist died five days after a crash at an intersections on Tucson’s southeast side, police said.

About 1 p.m. Aug. 27, Wendel John Pfefferkorn was headed south on South Alvernon Way in a 2009 Yamaha motorcycle when he collided with a pickup truck going west on East Los Reales Road, Tucson police said in a news release.

Pfefferkorn was critically injured in the wreck. On Sept. 1, police were notified he died at the hospital, the release said.

The driver of the 1995 GMC pickup truck, an unidentified 70-year-old man, stayed at the crash scene and cooperated with police, the release said.

Investigators said they are working to determine whether the motorcycle or the pickup truck ran the red light at the intersection.
