Three sent to hospital, one in critical condition, following Green Valley crash

UPDATE (2:28 p.m.):

According to an email from Santa Rita Fire District, crews initially responded to a rollover involving a red pickup truck.

The two occupants of the truck had gotten out prior to SRFD’s arrival. Neither occupant was injured. Both were evaluated on scene as a precaution.

A second crash then took place involving four vehicles. One car had two occupants. The other three cars had one apiece. Crews transported three patients to Banner University Medical Center. One patient was in critical condition and two were in stable condition.

UPDATE (1:48 p.m.): Northbound I-19 has reopened, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

Northbound Interstate 19 is closed between Esperanza Road and Duval Mine Road in Green Valley, following two separate crashes.

According to a social media post from Santa Rita Fire District, several people were transported to Banner University Medical Center.

Two patients were reported to be in stable condition. One patient is in serious condition.

Drivers are asked to find alternate routes.

Investigations into what cause the crashes are ongoing.
