TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) — Construction on 5th Street is a causing frustration, leaving those who live or work in the area wondering: What is the project and when is it going to be finished?
The project encompasses multiple improvements, stretching from Campbell Avenue to Wilmot Road. The section from Campbell to Alvernon Way focuses on pedestrian and walkability enhancements.
“Including continuous sidewalks, ADA ramps, and lighting throughout this area and landscape in the area,” Erica Frazelle of the City of Tucson Dept. of Transportation and Mobility said.
From Country Club Road to Wilmot Road, a new waterline is being installed. Once this is complete, the roadway will be reconstructed from Country Club to Wilmot.
“We ask if you are driving through this area, slow down. This is a really narrow roadway. And it’s down to one lane in each direction in certain points so just watch out for the crews who are out there,” Frazelle said.
