Tucson crash update: suspect turns herself in after fatal hit and run | News

TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) — A collision at the intersection of East Speedway Boulevard and North Beverly Avenue on July 18, 2025, resulted in the death of a motorcyclist, identified as 53-year-old Michael Robb Ormsby.

Officers from Operations Division Midtown and members of the Tucson Fire Department responded to the scene at around 10:30 p.m., where Ormsby was found with serious injuries. He was transported to a nearby hospital but was pronounced deceased.

The suspect vehicle, a Ford Mustang, fled the scene but was later found abandoned about four miles away. Detectives determined that the Mustang struck Ormsby’s Harley Davidson while traveling eastbound, causing him to eject. Ormsby was not wearing a helmet at the time.

On July 19, 2025, Nereyda Aneli Garcia, 26, turned herself in to the Tucson Police Department. Garcia was arrested for hit and run causing death and is being held at the Pima County Jail on a $25,000 bond.

Excessive speed and failure to control the Mustang were identified as primary factors in the collision. The investigation remains ongoing.
