LOS ANGELES (KVOA) – The Los Angeles Olympic Committee marked a significant milestone this week as they celebrated three years until the city hosts the Summer Olympics.
During a special event at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, officials unveiled the schedule for the 2028 Games.
The Opening Ceremonies are set for Friday, July 14, 2028, with the Closing Ceremonies scheduled for July 30.
In a departure from the traditional Summer Games schedule, athletics will take place during the first week, followed by swimming competitions in the second week.
The first medal of the 2028 Games will be awarded in Venice Beach for the triathlon.
The LA Games will introduce four new sports: flag football, cricket, lacrosse, and squash. Softball and baseball will also be making their official return to the Olympic schedule.
