What’s open, what’s closed around Tucson on the 4th of July


Independence Day is commemorated on the fourth day of July, and it falls on a Friday this year, giving many Americans a long weekend.

Tucson city offices, apart from emergency services, will be closed on July 4.

City trash collection services will remain in their regular schedule, and the Los Reales landfill will be open.

Federal government offices will be closed, along with most banks and credit unions. U.S. stock exchanges will also be closed.

U.S. Postal Service offices will be closed and there will be no mail
delivery. UPS stores will remain closed as well, except for
UPS Express Critical services. FedEx stores will be closed or operate on a modified schedule, except for FedEx Custom Critical services.

The Motor Vehicle Division will be closed.

Pima Community College and the University of Arizona will be closed.

Most Walmart and Target locations will be open.

Reid Park Zoo will be open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will be offering a military appreciation discount. The Arizona-Sonoran Desert Museum will both be open with regular hours of 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Sun Tran

Customer Service will be available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Sun Tran, Sun Van and Sun on Demand will be running on a Sunday schedule, with service to most bus routes ending before 9 p.m.

Sun Shuttle ADA Dial-a-Ride service will operate from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Sun Express and Sun Shuttle will not be in operation.

The Sun Link streetcar will run on a Sunday 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. schedule,
with extended service until 30 minutes after the conclusion of the “A”
Mountain fireworks show. The streetcar provides free transportation to two fireworks viewing locations: the Tucson Convention Center, deboard at Granada Avenue/Cushing Street, also served by Sun Tran Routes 2 and 12, and the Mercado District, deboard at Avenida Del Convento, also served by Sun Tran Route 21.

Regular service hours will resume Saturday, July 5.
