PHOENIX – Officials with the Arizona Department of Public Safety say a deadly crash involving multiple vehicles blocked several lanes of traffic along Interstate 10 in Phoenix on June 3.
What we know:
In a statement, DPS officials said troopers were called to the area of I-10 and Jefferson Street, just west of Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, and when they arrived at the scene, they determined there were “human remains belonging to an individual who had been struck by multiple vehicles.”

What we don’t know:
DPS did not release the identity of the person who died, nor did they say when the incident happened.
What’s next:
“The Highway Patrol Division’s Vehicular Crimes Unit, with the assistance of State Troopers, is actively investigating the incident,” read a portion of the statement. “The median, HOV lane, and lanes one and two will remain closed for the duration of the investigation.”
The traffic lanes were reopened just after 11 a.m.
